1 NEWS Tonight host Jenny Suo found out Aotearoa went into a country-wide Alert Level 4 lockdown restriction after a tramping trip.
She did not have access to cell reception while on the trip for four days in Punakaiki.
With surprise, she went to Instagram stories to share her jaw-dropping discovery.
“Guys. I just got out of the bush after four days with no internet,” she said.
“We're in lockdown?!” — taken with great surprise after being off the grid and coming back to see the news.

The world can change quite quickly when having a great time. Then. Reality sets in.
Suo had not showered for ninety-six hours, which clearly indicated that social distancing was applied regardless of whether she wasn't aware.
She took a ride to Punakaiki to Greymouth, then to Hokitika. Finally, caught a flight to Christchurch and from there to Auckland.
