Hamilton Police pressed media they are investigating how a teenager sustained critical injuries following a firearms incident this week.
Tuesday, at around 12.20am, a 16-year-old boy arrived at Waikato Hospital with injuries from a gunshot wound.
The boy shortly after collapsed — remains in a critical condition at Hospital.
His family was informed and are being supported by Police following the incident.
It is being treated very seriously as officers work to establish how and where the teen was injured. They are also following up with enquiries to find out who else may have been involved.
