There are 19 new cases of COVID-19 to report today in managed isolation. There are no new cases reported in the community.

Of the cases at the border, one is historical.

The first, a historical case, arrived on December 19 from the United States via Australia. This person tested positive at around day 12 of routine testing and is staying in a Hamilton quarantine facility.

The second case arrived on December 23 from the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. This person tested positive at around day 12 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The third case arrived on December 23 from the United Kingdom via Singapore. This person returned positive results following the onset of symptoms on day 8  and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The fourth case arrived on December 24 from India via the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. This person tested positive at around day 6 and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The fifth case arrived on December 27 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The sixth case arrived on December 28 from the United States. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The seventh case arrived on December 29 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates. This person returned positive results following the onset of symptoms on day 2 and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The eighth case arrived on December 29 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The ninth case arrived on December 29 from the United Kingdom. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The tenth case arrived on December 29 from Denmark via the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. This person returned positive results following the onset of symptoms on day 1 and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The eleventh and twelfth cases arrived on December 29 from the United Kingdom via Qatar. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth and seventeenth cases, all travelled separately, arrived on  December 29 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates. They all tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The eighteenth case arrived on December 29 from Seychelles via the United Arab Emirates. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The nineteenth case arrived on December 29 from South Africa via Singapore. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The twentieth (added due to historical case) case arrived on December 31 from the United States. This person tested positive on the day ‘0/1’ of routine testing and was transferred to a  quarantine facility in Christchurch.

2 previously reported cases of COVID-19 have now recovered. The total number of active COVID-19 cases is now at 72. 

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases are now at 1,825. This is the number that the Ministry of Health reports to the World Health Organisation.

The total number of tests that have been completed to date is 1,414,422.

There are now 2,427,300 users registered on NZ COVID Tracer app. The app has recorded a total of 147,185,025 poster scans. There have also been 5,937,951 manual diary entries recorded so far.
