There are 6 new cases of COVID-19 to report today in managed isolation. There are no new cases reported in the community.

The first, a historical case, arrived on January 2 from the United Kingdom via Qatar and Australia. This person tested positive at around day 0/1 and is staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The second case arrived on December 31 from the United States of America. This person tested positive at around day 3 of routine testing and is staying at a quarantine facility in Christchurch.

The third case arrived on December 29 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates. This person tested positive at around day 6 and is staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The fourth case arrived on December 27 from India via Switzerland via the United Arab Emirates. This person tested positive at around day 6 and is staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The fifth case arrived on December 22 from South Africa via Qatar. This person tested positive at around day 12 of routine testing and was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The sixth case arrived on December 19 from India via the United Arab Emirates. This person tested positive at around day 15 of routine testing and was a close contact of a confirmed case. This person was transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

2 previously reported cases of COVID-19 have now recovered. The total number of active COVID-19 cases is now at 61. 

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases are now at 1,830. This is the number that the Ministry of Health reports to the World Health Organisation.

The total number of tests that have been completed to date is 1,419,361.

There are now 2,429,400 users registered on NZ COVID Tracer app. The app has recorded a total of 147,878,633 poster scans. There have also been 5,968,002 manual diary entries recorded so far.
