There are 6 new cases of COVID-19 to report today in managed isolation. There are no new cases reported in the community.

The first case arrived on January 9 from South Africa via the United Arab Emirates Malaysia. This person tested positive at around day 8 and was a close contact of another case. They are staying in Auckland’s managed isolation facility.

The second case arrived on January 14 from the United States. This person tested positive at day 0. They are staying at a quarantine facility in Christchurch. This case had a previous history overseas having a COVID-19 related illness. They returned a weak positive at day 0 and a re-test at day 1. According to serology testing, it showed that there was a presence of antibodies.

The third case arrived on January 15 from the United States. This person tested positive at day 0. They are staying at a quarantine facility in Christchurch.

The fourth case arrived on January 15 from the United Kingdom via Singapore. This person tested positive at day 1. They are staying in Auckland’s managed isolation facility.

The fifth case arrived on January 15 from the United Kingdom via Singapore. This person tested positive at day 1. They are staying in Auckland’s managed isolation facility.

*Two cases; fourth and fifth both travelled together.

The sixth case arrived on January 15 from the United Kingdom via Singapore. This person tested positive at day 1. They are staying in Auckland’s managed isolation facility.

3 previously reported cases of COVID-19 has now recovered. The total number of active COVID-19 cases is now at 85.

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases are now at 1,906. This is the number that the Ministry of Health reports to the World Health Organisation.

The total number of tests that have been completed to date is 1,465,758.

On Friday there were 3,325 tests processed and yesterday there were 3,488 tests processed. 

There are now 2,447,415 users registered on NZ COVID Tracer app. The app has recorded a total of 154,588,750 poster scans. There have also been 6,247,170 manual diary entries recorded so far.
