There are 6 new cases of COVID-19 to report today in managed isolation. There are no new cases reported in the community.

Of the six new cases, one is a historical case.

The first case arrived on November 26 from South Africa via the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. They tested positive during being in travel bibble with two confirmed cases. They are staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The second case arrived on December 1 from Sweeden via Qatar and Australia. They tested positive during being in travel bibble with two confirmed cases. They are staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The third case arrived on December 3 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates. They tested positive due to being in a travel bubble with a confirmed case. They are staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The fourth case arrived on December 3 from the United Kingdom via the United Arab Emirates. They tested positive at routine day 3 testing and were transferred to Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The fifth case arrived on December 3 from the United Arab Emirates. They tested positive due to being in a travel bubble with a confirmed case. They are staying at Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The sixth case arrived on December 7 from the United Kingdom via Singapore and tested positive upon arrival as they were symptomatic. Serology testing revealed that this case was a historical case and they are not infectious. This person is at a Christchurch managed isolation and quarantine facility.

There are 2 previously reported cases that have now been classed as recovered from COVID-19. The total number of active COVID-19 cases is now 57. 

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases are now at 1,736. This is the number that the Ministry of Health reports to the World Health Organisation.

There is no one in the hospital with COVID-19 in New Zealand.

Laboratories yesterday processed 10,872 tests for COVID-19 which brings the total number of tests that have been completed to date to 1,332,470.

There are now 2,400,000 users registered on NZ COVID Tracer app.

The app has recorded a total of 136,650,355 poster scans. There have also been 5,497,928 manual diary entries recorded so far.
