Police advised the press that 61-year-old David Jensen was reported as missing since Saturday, February 20, from a tramping trip near Hokitika on the West Coast.
Authorities believed David left the area of Lake Coleridge, intending to go for a tramp through the Mingo Pass.
Reports indicated that he was due to be out and home on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Search and Rescue spent a large portion of time searching from the West Coast and Canterbury sides of David's route today.
David was later located and being checked over by staff.
Police thanked the public for their assistance.
