All of New Zealand outside of Auckland's boundary will move to Alert Level 2 settings at 11.59pm on Tuesday, September 7.
Auckland will remain under Alert Level 4 settings, with a review occurring on September 13 to decide whether the levels will be dropped.
Strick mask-wearing rules and numbers of people gathering will be limited under Level 2 settings.
Wearing a mask is mandatory inside facilities such as gyms and museums etc. Visitors and customers must follow the 2m distance rules.
Schools have been given 48 hours to prepare and reopen by Thursday morning, and students aged 12 or older are being recommended to wear masks.
There will be a limit of 50 people per hospitality venue indoors while outdoor spaces can have up to 100 people.
Staff facing or serving customers must always wear face masks at Level 2. Customers can remove their masks to eat and drink at restaurants and cafes.
