Man arrested following Police search across Hawke’s Bay

Armed Police staff responded to a serious incident this morning in the suburb of Flaxmere, Hawke's Bay.

Flaxmere Primary School on Walton Way was put in lockdown from 10.35am through to 11.20am due to the incident. Irongate Primary School was also in lockdown for some time.

“All our tamariki were kept safe and calm in their classroom spaces as per our school procedure,” said a statement on Facebook from Flaxmere School

Shortly after 11.30am, an offender was being sought for. The search for the offender was later extended across the whole Hawke's Bay region at around midday.

A search helicopter assisted with authorities to try to locate the individual throughout the afternoon.

At around 5pm a man was located in Taradale and taken into custody, and is set to face many charges in relation to his offending.
