Auckland’s Northern Motorway has been closed to motorists temporarily at the southbound Upper Harbour Highway off-ramp.
The incident happened at around 1.45pm this afternoon.
Electrical cabling fell onto the Motorway, which has caused a large backlog of traffic.
Significant delays were expected while cleanup crews work to safely remove the downed power lines and replace them for the remainder of the afternoon.
Motorists were advised to expect delays or avoid travelling if possible until the road is cleared.
Diversions had been put in place.
