SkyCity Auckland says the Sky Tower will be lit pink from October 1 — October 4, to show support for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, during the first week of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Sky Tower will be one of the first in the world to be light for Global Illumination, the campaign of which is international to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research around the world. The Sky Tower accordingly has supported and been a long-standing partner of the campaign every sing year since 2000.

The Sky Tower is the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest free-standing building. Based in the middle of Auckland, it is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable buildings.

In late 2019, the outside lights on the Sky Tower were changed to use LED, supporting SkyCity’s climate change commitment to decrease carbon emissions from the Sky Towers lighting by 10%.

SkyCity lights the Sky Tower for charities or community request that they support financially, to mark national holidays, milestones or other celebrations and events, or as a symbol of respect or solidarity.
