Police and other emergency services responded to a shooting incident which involved a firearm on Tuesday at an address on Coventry St in the suburb of Highbury, Palmerston North.
According to incident reports, one person sustained critical injuries after being shot in the head at the address shortly after 6.30pm. They were treated in an ambulance at the scene, and then taken to Hospital.
“One person has been taken to Palmerston North Hospital with critical injuries,” a Police spokesperson said to thisquality.
It is not immediately known if anyone else who may be involved in the incident has been injured.

In the early stages, no arrests were made, and the individual who shot the person remains on the loose.
Cordons were put in place around the scene and people had been advised to stay away, or stay indoors.
