thisquality received reports that indicate a car had caught on fire on State Highway 3 in Palmerston North, Manawatū District.
Emergency services responded to the incident at the intersection of Tremaine Ave and Rangitīkei St.
The car caught on fire just after 3.35pm on Wednesday.
It was extinguished before Fire and Emergency crews arrived at the scene.
One person was involved without any injury.
The road was reopened to traffic by 4pm.
