A child sustained serious injuries after a being hit by a car in Waikanae on the Kāpiti Coast.
At around 2:55 pm emergency services were called to reports of a child in a severe condition.
Two ambulances and a helicopter responded to the reports.
The Life Flight Rescue Helicopter landed near the scene and took the child to Wellington City hospital.
A spokeswoman for Wellington Free Ambulance said the child's condition is considered to be deemed as serious than critical.
Police investigated, speaking to the driver of the vehicle. No arrests were made as thisquality understands.
