The two further deaths reported today are saddening for the family involved and for New Zealand.

One from Waikato hospital was a man in his 90s who died yesterday, and he had a connection to the Matamata cluster.

The second death was a woman in her 80s at Burwood Hospital, who was a part of the 20 Rosewood residents who were transferred to the hospital, she had underlying health issues.


There are now 7 deaths from the group of Rosewood residents who were moved to Burwood hospital.

A total number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in New Zealand is now 11.

The total cases of COVID-19 have increased by 8. They consist of 2 confirmed and 6 probable cases that are linked to either confirmed cases or known outbreaks.

816 reported cases of COVID-19 who have recovered, this is an increase of 46 on yesterday.

Today 14 people are in hospital. This includes 3 in ICU – one each in Middlemore, Dunedin and North Shore; this is no change on yesterday. 2 of these are in critical condition.

The new total combined number of

confirmed and probable cases is now 1,409.
