There is 5 new cases of COVID-19 to report today in New Zealand. The new cases are reported in managed isolation. There are no new cases in the community today.

The five new individual positive cases, two arrived from Switzerland from the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia on September 29.

Two others were each from Russia from the United Arab Emirates on September 21, from Ukraine on September 29 and then from Australia on September 30.


Two are currently in managed isolation at Auckland’s quarantine facility. The three others are in managed isolation at Rotorua and will then be transferred yo Auckland’s quarantine facility.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases is currently 41, and of those 34 are imported and are in MIQ facilities. 7 are community cases. 

Five previously reported cases are now considered as recovered.

There are no people in hospital for COVID-19 today.

The one new case brings a total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,498. This is the number that the Ministry of Health reports to the World Health Organisation.

Laboratories yesterday processed 3,616 tests, bringing the total number of tests that are completed to date to 979,985.
