UPDATED: thisquality reports a Covid-19 positive person has been transported to Auckland City Hospital, Friday.
The case, a returned traveller, was transported to Hospital from the Jet Park quarantine facility at Auckland Airport after testing positive from a day 0/1 test.
According to other news outlets reporting the development, it was mentioned risk to the New Zealand public is low. The Ministry of Health later confirmed this to thisquality.
Initially, no press release was sent out in the early stages. thisquality awaited a comment from the Ministry of Health for further details surrounding the news and received an update shortly after 7.05pm.
“This person is in a stable condition on a dedicated Covid-19 ward. We can confirm the person is hospitalized due to complications associated with Covid-19,” a Ministry spokesperson said.
“The patient’s whole genomic sequence information will be provided when available.”
Strict protocols to prevent infection were followed during the transfer process for the person.
Infection and prevention control plans are appropriately used at all metro-Auckland DHB Hospitals when patients having symptoms of Covid-19 go in.
“Our hospitals remain safe for patients, visitors and staff,” the spokesperson added.
Due to privacy reasons, there will be no further information given about the patient.
