Waikato District Health Board has introduced the COVID-19 vaccination programme at a managed isolation facility in Hamilton.
The programme began in earnest at the Distinction Hamilton hotel this morning, where 79 staff received the vaccination.
Staff showed enthusiasm to get the Vaccine jab. The workers say they feel a sense of relief after getting their first dose of the Vaccine.
Two first doses were given to 28 DHB vaccinators, at the COVID-19 vaccination centre yesterday.
Distinction Hamilton general manager Carla Denmead says the Vaccine arrival was a ‘significant' moment for staff.
“I felt emotional when my injection was done. It's just a sense of relief and realising the opportunity we'd been given,” said Ms Denmead.
“It's a really big deal. Hopefully this is a game-changer right? It will help get our industries running again properly, open our borders and help keep people safe.”
