Police cordoned off a property North of Canterbury after explosives were found and reported to authorities, Tuesday morning.
Due to the nature of the report made to authorities, emergency services were dispatched to the incident.
The incident was reported at an address on Dale Street in Kaiapoi just before 9am.
NZ Herald reports a Police spokesperson mentioning that a container of blast caps was found by tradesmen that were working in the vicinity.
“The NZ Defence Force has been advised, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel will remove the blast caps.”
It was noted that the explosives were removed from the scene at around 10.30am and destroyed.
