Emergency services responded to a crash near Tangiteroria in Kaiprara District, Northland.
The crash involved a truck that rolled over on State Highway 14 shortly after 1.30pm.
It is understood Fire and Emergency crews were situated at the scene to put out a fire.
The driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A crane was organised to remove the truck, which was expected to take a few hours.
State Highway 14 was closed between Bob Taylor Road and Otuhi Road due to the crash, and no diversions were available at the time.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area due to extensive delays.
The highway was reopened at around 4pm.
