GeoNet reported a magnitude 4.5 earthquake that shook Northeastern parts of the North Island and surrounding areas on Thursday morning at around 7:33 am.
The quake occurred North of White Island at a depth of 136 km and struck about 70 km north-west of Te Kaha
More than 200 people submitted a form saying they felt it with most ranking it as an intensity of light.
174 reported it being weak while 39 said the quake was light.
Shaking was reportedly felt in Whakatane and Hawke's Bay.
