The crash occurred on Lincoln road shortly after 4.40pm.
Multiple vehicles are believed to be involved in the incident.
Early reports indicate one person is in a serious condition.
Closure of the road will be in place for some time.
The Serious Crash Unit was notified to examine the scene.
