Fire and Emergency NZ have announced changes to Northlands fire seasons, starting at 8 am on Monday, December 14.
All of far north, Whangarei and Kaipara districts are moving to a restricted fire season. A permit may be required to light fires.
Limestone Island in Whangarei Harbour will be a prohibited fire season meaning no open-air fired will be allowed on the island.
Private use of fireworks will be banned in the Karikari peninsula and Ahipara township, including surrounding areas.
