Firearms incident puts West Auckland school into lockdown

West Auckland’s Lincoln Heights primary school, on Leisha Byrnes, Massey was put under lockdown after a firearms incident happened nearby.

Police advised the school to go into lockdown at around 1:00 pm on Monday.

The firearms incident happened at around 12:00 pm.


Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) members and police were at the scene. When AOS members approached the property, they took two people into Police custody.

St John emergency paramedics were on standby to assist Police. 

Cordons were in place on a section of Keegan Drive while police corner an address due to the firearms incident.

Lincoln Heights School was put into lockdown due to how close the firearms incident was with police cordons in place.
