One individual is in custody following an escaping driver occurrence in Christchurch prior to today.

Police were advised at about 8.10 am that a taken vehicle had crashed into multiple cars on Wrights Road in Addington. The sole tenant of the stolen vehicle at that point continued to unlawfully take a white Hyundai SUV from the location of the impact.

No one was harmed because of the impact or the unlawful taking of the second taken vehicle. Police got various calls from concerned individuals from general society about the way of the driving of the taken Hyundai vehicle.

These calls demonstrated significant to Police empowering them to send air backing and watch vehicles. The vehicle was halted at about 9.25 am on Sherborne Street, St Albans, and the 29-year-old driver was arrested moving forward without any more episodes.

Charges are yet to be resolved.
