Four West Auckland schools have been put under lockdown this afternoon due to an incident involving concern for a person’s wellbeing.
The schools, Kelston Boys’ High School, Kelston Girls’ College, Kelston Intermediate and St Leonards Road School, were placed into lockdown as a precaution.
Police are currently making enquiries in the area to locate this person.
The call to Police was made just after 2 pm in Kelston.
St Leonards Road School posted an update to their website that all students are safe and accounted for and they will be remaining in lockdown until further notice.
“St Leonards Road School has gone into lockdown as advised by police. We will continue to provide updates on our website as often as possible.”
“Please do not come to the school or phone the school as you will not be attended to and this may cause disruption to the management of this incident and could potentially place yourselves and/or our staff and student’s safety at risk.”
At around 2 pm, an update was released saying Leonards Road School is still in lockdown. All of the students are safe and accounted for and that the lockdown will remain until further notice.
At around 3:30 pm Police reportedly started releasing one school at a time out of lockdown. St Leonards Road School is still under lockdown.
This event follows 24 hours after Lincoln Heights School in Massey was put under lockdown due to a firearms incident involving the Armed Offenders Squad.
