French President Emmanuel Macron has returned a positive test result for COVID-19.

The president took a test as soon as he started gaining symptoms that were COVID-19 related. However, in a statement about the positive result, it did not describe what symptoms Macron was having.

Macron will be self-isolating for the next week, announcing it on Thursday.

All of Macron’s trips for the future were cancelled due to self-isolating.

The president was scheduled to visit Lebanon on Tuesday.

“He will continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance,” the statement said.

Prime Minister Jean Castex was in contact with Macron within the last few days and will self-isolate according to Gerard Larcher, head of the Senate.

Marcon was also in a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, also meeting with the prime minister of Portugal.
