Residents in Hawke's Bay have had their power cut off by Transpower with a second power outage following a previous one that left most of Waikato and surrounding regions temporarily without power.
A Facebook post was made this morning at around 7.40am apologising to customers for the outage.
“Our sincere apologies to consumers in the Hawke's Bay. We have had an issue with local generation and had to ask Unison and Eastland networks to reduce electricity use in the area,” the statement says.
It is believed power was shut off to hot water in the midst of generation use.
“We are working hard to get you reconnected as soon as possible.”
Local lines companies Eastland and Unison were instructed at around 8.10am to resume generation.
To ensure consumers were aware that disconnection was not needed, apologies were made in advance — “Eastland and Unison to begin restoring load. Sorry for the inconvenience this morning.”
In a third statement as a final update at 8.35am, there was an understanding that no load was needed to be disconnected.
“[Unison or Eastland] used other mechanisms at their disposal to manage load down or supply by other means. So sorry for the initial worry caused.”
