Emergency services attended the scene of a house reportedly on fire in Paraparaumu, Wednesday evening at around 7.25pm.
Kāpiti Road was closed off between Arawhata Road and the southbound and northbound Kāpiti Expressway (State Highway 1) off ramps with detours in place. Police assisted with traffic control.
Detours were in place for traffic off the expressway through Te Roto Drive, right onto Realm Drive, right onto Mazengarb Road and down Arawhata Road. Detours for traffic through Kāpiti Road were directed in reverse.

Four Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) appliances from Waikanae and Paraparaumu attended the scene. Crews extinguished the fire shortly after 7.35pm.
It is understood the fire will be investigated to determine whether it was suspicious.
“We'll have a standby crew there for some time. It is going to be investigated by a specialist Fire and Emergency fire investigator,” a FENZ duty supervisor told thisquality.
