The Senate impeachment trial for Donald J. Trump on charges of incitement of insurrection for the Capitol riot that happened on January 6 will begin on the first day of February’s second week.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer made the announcement of the schedule on Friday evening.
An agreement was reached between Republicans who pushed a delay for the trial to give Trump a specific chance to organise a legal team in defence of the impeachment.
It will be a first for a former President who will be facing an impeachment trial after leaving the White House.
