Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot at in Lower Hutt this afternoon.
The man presented to Hutt Hospital at around 3.30pm with sustained critical injuries from the gunshot. He was later transferred to Wellington Hospital, remaining in a critical condition.
Further information and work to establish the circumstances leading up to the shooting is underway.
According to reports, gunshots were also fired on Cambridge Terrace in Naenae at around 7.10pm which could have possible connections to today's incident. No one was reported injured from the shots fired in the evening.
Authorities would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about the incident that could assist them with enquiries.
