A much loved and valued ice cream business called Koru Ice based on State Highway 1 south of Ōtaki in the Kāpiti Coast is going to be shutting its premises doors soon.
The shop located at 1229 on SH1 has been operating for the last thirteen years but will be moving on in the months ahead. For now, it will continue to be open for business.
Every summer it has been a popular attraction for travellers, tourists, and locals stopping in for a nice cold treat to cool down.
A listing on Harcourts says that the land and buildings are for sale and is seeking to find a new buyer in the local area.
The decision to shut down follows as the Peka Peka to Ōtaki Expressway opening in about a year would reduce the usual flow of consumers, making trade unprofitable for at least a demi-decade.
