The Ministry For Primary Industries has sent out a recall notice of Real Milk Timarus' brand after listeria was found in its unpasteurised raw product.
The company recalled specific batches after detection of listeria as part of routine testing programmes.
Milk product was sold at a vending machine, within South Canterbury home deliveries and online.

New Zealand Food Safety website has information about the affected product use-by dates and packaging from Real Milk Timaru.
National food compliance services manager, Jenny Bishop, advised customers to check the lot number, use-by date and date of purchase for identification of batch.
“If you have any of the recalled product, throw it out or return it to Real Milk Timaru. Alternatively, heat it to 70°C and hold at this temperature for one minute. If you don't have a thermometer, heat the milk until it nearly reaches a boil before drinking it,” she said.
“Listeria can make people sick (listeriosis) if they consume contaminated food.”

An infection from listeriosis can pose serious risk among vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and their unborn babies, newborn babies, and people who have weakened immune systems or the elderly.
Healthy people may only experience mild infections, which will cause mild diarrhoea and flu-like symptoms. It typically has an incubation period of two to three weeks or longer before any symptoms show.
Any concerns about the consumption of the product should be addressed to a GP.
