Today, the Ministry of Health told press in its Covid-19 update that there was a death reported related to the virus.
Counties Manukau Health informed the Ministry of the death of a man in his 40s at Middlemore Hospital.
No further information can be provided at this time until conversations with the man's family are concluded.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this deeply sad time,” the statement said.
Two people on November 11 were reported dying with the virus. A woman in her 80s died at Middlemore Hospital, and a man in his 90s in North Shore Hospital. The man had underlying health conditions.
The total death toll in New Zealand is now at 40.
