Mitre 10 will be helping plant native trees and says that it is one of the most ‘powerful' actions New Zealanders can take to reduce climate change effects. They want to protect the landscapes, waterways and forests for the future generations to come.
A partnership from Trees that Count will guide Mitre 10, and join forces to do better. Mitre 10 says that their customers will help plant tens of thousands of native trees within the partnership. Evey native tree planted and any bag of Tui growing mix that a customer buys, online and in-store, Mitre 10 will be donating 5c to fund more trees for Trees that Count to plant.
Precisely who are Trees that Count, are funders and planters that support the growth of reducing climate change additions, helping New Zealand? Their model is with donations, matching them to planting a tree, around the country many are available to plant and the organisation says they're wanting to get more native trees into the ground.
Trees that Count has planted so far 32,120,842 native trees around New Zealand — a massive number, and this is since 2016!
According to scientific facts, from planting those 32m trees, it'd remove and sequester 5.3-7.3m tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, who couldn't say this is better than planting pine trees.
Jules Lloyd-Jones who is Mitre 10's Chief of Customer Marketing & Inspiration team member says the partnership will provide practical support for environmental restoration projects nationwide and help Trees That Count towards its goal of planting 200 million trees.
“As well as funding thousands of trees, Mitre 10 volunteers will plant natives and clear invasive weeds with trusts and restoration groups in their local areas. There's something special about New Zealand's native bush, and we must protect it for our children and grandchildren. We're pleased to be contributing to a sustainable future for our people and our communities.”
