The United States President, Donald J. Trump, received Morocco’s highest award for his advancement in normalisation deals between Morocco and Israel in December.
Morocco’s ambassador to the United States Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui gave Trump the Order of Muhammad, a gift that is only given to heads of state.
It was a gift given to Trump from Morocco’s King Mohammed VI.
Middle East envoy Avi Berkowitz and The White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner received other awards for their work within the Israel-Morocco deal.
Within the last five months, the United States has helped broker specific deals between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
The award ceremony is not going to be made public, and the media was not invited.
Since Trump leaves office on January 20 after losing the 2020 November 11 Election, he has favoured avoiding public appearances.
