MP for Ōtaki Terisa Ngobi received her first shot of the Covid-19 vaccination jab on Friday.

Ngobi took it because she's in the eligible over forty-plus age band at the Horowhenua Community Practice centre in Levin.

She praised the amazing essential vaccination worker who did the shot for her. Husband, Henry, also took the shot.

“That's really good whānau. I didn't feel a thing, real easy booking system. We have got professionals doing our shots and this is the best way we can protect our families, ourselves. This is really important,” she said.

“If you are in the forty-plus group — make sure you book in — please whānau. I encourage everybody. Especially our Māori and Pasifika, make sure you get vaccinated; it didn't hurt one bit, and this is how we protect the rest of ourselves.

A huge ‘thank you' was given to the essential workers doing hard yards to vaccinate New Zealanders around Aotearoa.

“Leaving your home to go and get vaccinated is one of the reasons you’re able to leave the house at the moment. Please make sure you wear a mask and keep socially distant,” Ngobi said in a statement.

“A massive shout out to essential worker Paul, who did an initial wellness check on arrival. Also thanks to our vaccinators who are out there as our rollout ramps up. “
