Emergency services responded to reports of a serious crash in Rakaia, Ashburton, Saturday evening.
The crash involved two vehicles on Rakaia Highway, South of the Rakaia township, at around 8.30pm.
One person is believed to have sustained serious injuries. Two others involved have reportedly received minor to moderate injuries.
Lanes for Southbound traffic were blocked — detours were put in place.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area where possible and expect delays.
The Serious Crash Unit investigated the circumstances of the crash to find out how it occurred.
