Emergency services responded to a serious multiple-vehicle crash in Christchurch today.
The crash happened just after 12.20pm on the Northern Motorway in Belfast.
According to early reports, one person was in critical condition. During the afternoon a statement was released which said one person was confirmed to have died.
No other immediate injuries were reported except for the one person.
“The Serious Crash Unit has been examining the scene and Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing,” reads a statement from Police.
Motorists were asked to avoid the air or expect delays as the road is closed. Access to the Northern Motorway is open via Marshland Road.
