The Ministry of Health confirmed on Wednesday evening that a person died with Covid-19 at an address in Manukau, South Auckland.
A cause of death is not yet identified, and it could have been the virus or another reason. The Coroner will make any final determinations surrounding the death.
“The Ministry extends its sympathies to this person’s family and acknowledges the stress this may cause them,” a Ministry of Health spokesperson said.
The person was self-isolating with public health oversight at the address after initially testing positive on October 24. They were found deceased by a family member who visited them today.
“The Ministry is working with other agencies, routinely involved in any sudden death, including Police and other health organisations,” the Ministry spokesperson added.
