On Friday morning, the Government announced that the first batch of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine vials has arrived early.
Transportation plans and quality temperature control methods are underway for when the Vaccines are set to arrive in New Zealand next week.
Ultra-low temperature freezers will be used to store the Vaccine vials.
The mass of wires in the freezers is calibration probes.
They are used for the validation process in measuring temperatures.
The Government has reportedly been in contact regularly with Pfizer for the last few weeks.
Border workers will be the first priority in getting the COVID-19 vaccination, and within two-three weeks their household contacts will take it.
Essential and healthcare workers and those that are at risk of developing COVID-19 symptoms will get their vaccination in the second quarter of 2021.
New Zealand’s wider population will get to choose to take the jab during the second half of the year, which will be followed by an extensive campaign from the Government, encouraging everyone to take it.
