Police conducted a homicide investigation into the death of Wiremu Arapo in Cockle Bay, which resulted in two arrests. Wiremu Arapo was aged 27.

Detectives jointly charged two 32-year-old men for Mr Arapo’s murder.

Both men are due to appear in Manukau District Court today.

Police say that at this stage, they are not seeking any other people who are connected with this investigation.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton says: “I hope the news of arrests brings some reassurance to the Cockle Bay community.” — “Police are now limited in further comment on this investigation as the matter is before the Court.”

A karakia was performed at the Cockle Bay address when investigators discovered a body.

Previously Police did not treat the fire as suspicious after liaising with Fire and Emergency investigators.
