Police were alerted on Sunday morning to a woman who was assaulted, she died at the scene.
A man was further arrested a short time after. A scene examination took place, and the investigation continues says Counties Manakau Police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander, Counties Manukau CIB, says a post mortem examination is expected to be completed today.
“Police carried out scene examinations at two addresses yesterday on Smedley Street and Hobman Place,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Alexander.
Police have also been speaking with people that may have witnessed what happened as part of further Police enquiries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Alexander says Police have since charged a man who was arrested nearby on Hobman Place on Sunday morning.
