Police identified a body that was located washed up on a beach at Te Kawau Bay, Panui Island on January 16.
A member of the public found the body at around 12:10 pm on Saturday.
The body was identified as 33-year-old man, John Planas, who was reported as missing last year during August.
Planas was a Philippines national who resided in Auckland. He did not return from kayak fishing off Duder Regional Part on August 30, 2020.
The death will be referred to the coroner.
