Police yesterday morning located a dinghy in a desperate search for a missing 73-year-old Waiheke Island man, Erno Bedo.
Mr Bedo has remained missing since May 23 in the Oneroa Bay area.
He lives on a boat called Holly that was reportedly moored in Oneroa Bay; however, the tender (dinghy) was missing at the time.
Members of the public saw the tender (dinghy) on the east side of Motutapu Island at around 9.15am — later recovered by officers from a Police Maritime Unit.
A search was carried out yesterday with assistance from Navy search specialists.
Police National Dive Squad members began a search but had no luck in locating the missing man.
