Police have released the name of a pilot who died from a helicopter crash in Otago on Thursday last week.
He was 36-year-old Daniel Harrison of Milton. His family has requested privacy as they grieve his loss.
“Police extend our sympathies to Mr Harrison's family and loved ones at this time,” a statement said.
The helicopter was initially reported as overdue at around 5.30am which lead to a search operation by New Zealand's Rescue Coordination Centre.
Rescue members located the helicopter crashed at Deep Creek at around 7.30am.
The Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) is leading an investigation in relation to the crash.
