On Friday afternoon Amberlea Rest Home in Auckland was listed as a Covid-19 exposure site due to a worker testing positive for the virus.

The positive staff worker was working at the facility in the dementia ward. Health officials said to thisquality the individual worked for two shifts while being infectious.

They were fully vaccinated and followed strict infection and prevention control protocols, such as wearing a face mask and PPE gear at the time.

A mobile testing unit was set up at the facility to begin testing residents at the site.

As a result of testing, all 13 patients in the ward returned negative results for the virus.

The virus is likely to have not spread to the facility while the worker was working.
