Police report that one person is reportedly missing after responding to a water rescue in Tikitiki, Gisborne.
The incident was first reported at around 5 pm, that a boat had capsized south of the river mouth.
At the time of the incident, two people were in the boat. One person made it back to shore to give notification that there is an emergency.
Search and rescue teams initiated an operation that is underway to locate the second person after not returning to shore with the first person.
