A pothole that formed early Thursday morning caused significant trouble for motorists driving Southbound on State Highway 1, near the Ōtaki River Bridge.
The biggest pothole formed prior to Ōtaki Gorge Road, including another smaller one further ahead.
Higgins contractors were on site at about 7.30am to conduct repairs to the road.

They'd formed because of wet weather conditions occurring overnight.
A number of vehicles reportedly sustained damages to tyres as a result of the potholes forming.
Southbound traffic was impacted and slowed while Northbound moved slightly quicker.
Motorists were advised to expect delays while the contractors work to fix the holes up.
