Actor Dustin Diamond has died after battling stage 4 cancer. He was 44 years old — passing away on Monday morning.
His team posted a statement to Facebook after he was diagnosed last month.
“We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamond’s passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma,” the statement said.
“He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”
His condition had declined drastically over the weekend, after he was taken off breathing tubes to transport him to hospice care, according to reports from TMZ.
Diamond’s father and his girlfriend were by his side when he sadly passed away.
His social media team said his acting never left them bored, reports Pagesix.
“We are thankful he trusted us enough to share his genuine, authentic self with our team. We wish you knew him in the way that we did,” the team’s statement read.
The actor starred on a show called Saved by the Bell: The New Class, and Saved by the Bell: The College Years. He did not appear in the recent revival series.
